Photo Shoots

by on January 26th, 2012

We recently did a photo shoot with Ashley Gain at the Valley Ho. The photos turned out beautiful! The very talented Stephanie Fay was there to capture all the details.
If you pick up a copy of the Arizona Foothills Magazine you can read Ashley’s article.

When you see the end result everything looks stunning and perfect, what you don’t see is all the behind the scenes planning.
The day usually, for us, starts very early. We get to the studio and finish off the last of the detail items, making sure we have some back up product because we will always need to replace or make something impromptu.
This day started off cold, I think the outside temperature was is the low 40′s, this was the temperature inside the studio. Yes I know all you mid west and east coast people are saying waaaaaaaaaaa! but just as there is a “dry heat”, there is also a dry cold!
So once we got to the Valley Ho we realized that our birch plexiglass card display was going to become an issue. Not only was it cold but the rain showed up. Not a good combination when you are using suction cups to hang the engraved, metallic name cards provided by Rene with Celebrations In Paper. I am sure it was quite a site to see us using our breath to try to warm the suction cups up so we could get the photo before they all lost connection with the plexiglass.
Any one in the event industry knows what the wind will do to those paper name cards you have just lined up all perfect. Yes we had wind also, the shoot was full of obstacles and small mishaps but in the end you can see it turned out fantastic!

Logan and Andy October 15 2011

by on October 22nd, 2011

We were so excited when Victoria from Victoria Canada Weddings and Events called us and told us about Logan!
How right she was, Logan was such a pleasure to meet with.
Our first meeting with Logan would set into motion one of our most elegant events to date!
The sample

All the planning, meetings with Victoria, emails and phone calls with Logan lead up to this! Delivery day!

What was to follow was 20 hours of stripping roses, the really fun part of an event, ugh!

We always seem to incorporate some form of wood into our events, and even with a crystal event we found a way to use our saws and chisels.

As the big day moves closer and we start to put together the bouquets and centerpieces and small detail pieces the mood around the studio seems to brighten.

Flower girl

We always test the wrist corsages in studio first so we don’t have a wedding day surprise!

When it comes time to pack up it’s all hands on deck, even shop dog Diamond.

The truck was completely packed by the time we left!

Ahhhhh, finally we arrive at the beautiful Biltmore and can finally start putting together our part of this stunning wedding!

Once on site we take a final look to make sure the flowers look their best!

The room is transforming as every one does their part, lighting, linens, (Wild Flower)
Victoria Canada and her amazing team handling all the details.

We made a custom cake stand for Logan and Andy’s beautiful cake, we packed it with flowers at Logan’s request!

Just a few photo’s from St Francis where the ceremony was conducted.

The urns we used for double duty, here at the church for the ceremony then back at the reception, one behind the head table and one as a focal point at the bar.

This day was just a pleasure for us, Logan and Andy were so pleasant and everybody involved behind the scenes were absolutely wonderful!

9-11, Take a moment

by on September 11th, 2011

Each flag represents a person who died in the World Trade Center that day, a bit overwhelming when you look over the landscape and can only see flags.

I hope Veronique”s family is ok with me using her plaque. This day is about the individuals and the wide circle of impact their loss had.

If I had a wish it would be that it wouldn’t take a tragedy like 9-11, or a celebration like a wedding for people to realize what truly holds meaning. Become the person you wish you had been before a tragedy, be that person everyday.

The skyline of New York has changed,

but lets not forget what America has always stood for.

We can rebuild,

but lets please not forget how we came together in the weeks following, putting our own needs behind those that were in greater need.
Take a moment to remember!

Breanne & Chris September 3rd 2011

by on September 6th, 2011

This was such a fun wedding to be involved with! We only had the pleasure of meeting Chris and Breanne one time at a walk through at both Bentley Projects and the Phoenix Art Museum.
I am going to give you a little behind the scenes look at what we did at our studio while getting ready for this beautiful wedding.
The end product can be seen on Melissa Jill’s blog! I will have a link at the end of this post!

First a look at the workshop where most of our fabrication takes place!

Here is where we staged and prepped the six foot manzanita trees for the centerpieces.

One of our favorite pieces of this wedding was the framed birch! The piece went through many modifications both on the drawing board and in production. We had to make sure it was both stunning, functional and safe.

We used touches of birch with the metal centerpieces to help tie it all together.

The metal centerpieces were of course softened with all the beautiful florals!

The 8 foot by 8 foot boxwood piece for the ceremony had a couple different designs but we went with this one as the final because we felt it made the biggest statement!
The manzanita trees of course were added at the Bentley Projects just prior to ceremony.

Hanging from the rafters we had the boxwood spears,
flanking the aisle we had plexiglass cubes with manzanita encased inside, white rain deer moss with silver spears atop.

The card table was a part of this wedding we knew we wanted to go big from the beginning, we wanted to keep with the urban garden feel so we built a rustic chunky wooden table to hold a 10 foot massive manzanita tree. To help soften the table we adorned it with place card bud vases and the result was amazing!

The bride bouquet is always a big part of the wedding and that is why we have a cooler set aside for just the personal flowers. We use the glass door cooler so we can enjoy the bouquets as we work!

I will now leave you with the beautiful images of the magenta phalaenopsis orchids that were used throughout this stunning wedding!

A big thank you to Victoria Canada for her attention to detail!

Now check out the wedding beautifully captured by Melissa Jill!
